Here is a great practical post by Zach Neilsen on ‘Raising Kids in Pornified culture‘.

It speaks for itself.

Porn-again Christian

Mark Driscoll has put out a free e-book on Pornography.

Find it here.

This is an genuine and honest attempt to deal with a whole minefield of issues, from sex within marriage to masturbation, pornography and sexual slavery .

Driscoll rightly criticises Churches for not maintaining adequate discussion of these issues.

His discussion is blunt and confronting at points, it is not intended to be a thorough treatment of the subject. It is a pastoral and Biblical reflection some very personal, difficult and controversial issues.

What I found most helpful is the way that he takes Genesis 2 as the pattern for marriage and views sex being part of the way that unity is built within marriage. The basis for this is that the narrative for Gen 2 forms the basis of all discussion of marriage, and with it sex, in the rest of the Bible.

With Gen 2 as a paradigm he then goes on to speak about what is helpful and unhelpful based on what builds unity or destroys it. This is not intended merely for those who are married but it is for anyone who wants to think Biblically about lust, desire and sex.

The final two chapters speak about the influence of pornography on serial killer Ted Bundy and then prostitution and sexual slavery. These are deliberately confronting and leave you with a certain disquiet about the hidden dangers in our society.

Overall, this e-book is a good counter perspective to our society and is worth the short read it is.
